It gets to be 10:00 AM, and we notice it's much quieter than it should be at ten on a Sunday morning. No generator exercise. We look out at the side of it - sure enough, the red light's on. Open the cover and the panel is showing an 'under voltage' alarm. Tried the usual checks, reset the controller, etc. No good - attempting to start on manual and it fires, runs for a few seconds, and shuts down with the same alarm.
We have someone coming out to take a look Tuesday PM (and am hoping we don't lose power between now and then) - anyone else run into this?
**UPDATE** Thanks to Jason Bondy for identifying the part that Generac replaced under warranty. Choke plate - Part # 0J0602 It's the low speed jet, the size of the orifice on the choke plate is too big, so the engine is running too rich on air. Generac went through at least 2 revisions. **Original Description** This is our Generac 20KW generator showing a known problem with its 'Weekly Tests' when configured to use 'Quite Mode'. What happens is the unit no longer receives the correct RPM count, and actually tries to run slower then it's able. If caught within the warranty period (which was 2 years for us) Generac will repair free of charge.

I've made a complete Generac error code guide now in PDF format with some other useful information in there for anyone who wants to keep a copy on hand as well! Re: Generac under voltage shutdown You gave me the same serial number for both. 6139038 is a 10 kw Guardian with a GT530 V-twin engine. Purchased on 6-24-2011, warranty expires on 6-24-2014.
If you are beyond your warranty, the easiest solution is to change your weekly testings Quite Mode from 'YES' to 'NO'. Your unit will run a little louder, but being that there isn't a load on your unit it won't be much louder. This video was uploaded from an Android phone.
